Training
Job training for a Patriot System Repairer requires nine weeks of Basic Training, where you’ll learn basic
Soldiering skills, and 52 weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction, including practice in
repairing and replacing equipment parts. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of
the skills you’ll learn are:

  • Principles and concepts of electronics and mechanics
  • Use electronic, electrical and mechanical test equipment
  • Use schematics, drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams
  • Operate, test and maintain weapons systems

Advanced Responsibilities
Advanced level Patriot System Repairers provides guidance, supervise and train other Soldiers within the same
discipline. As an advanced level Patriot System Repairer, you may be involved in:

  • Perform maintenance on the Patriot Information and Coordination Central, Engagement Control Station,
    Radar Set, Antenna Mast Group, Launching Station and Communications Relay Group
  • Perform test and adjust components to specific tolerances and determine shortcomings and malfunctions in
    electronic assemblies, subassemblies, modules and circuit elements with common and system peculiar test
    equipment
  • Isolate malfunctions using automatic and semi-automatic program maintenance diagnostic software, unit self
    test and built in test equipment
  • Develop specialized computer software tests to evaluate suspected faults
  • Isolate system interface malfunctions
  • Determine serviceability and disposition of defective assemblies, subassemblies, modules circuit
    elements
  • Repair unserviceable items by removing and replacing defective components
  • Operate and perform unit level maintenance on standard and system peculiar test equipment
  • Perform quality control measures and serves on maintenance and inspection teams
  • Complete maintenance and supply forms
  • Provide technical assistance to supported units
