C. ALL SOLDIERS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

(1) PHYSICAL DEMAND RATING OF MEDIUM.

(2) PHYSICAL PROFILE OF 222221.

(3) NORMAL COLOR VISION.

(4) A MINIMUM SCORE OF 110 IN APTITUDE AREA GENERAL TECHNICAL (GT) AND
A MINIMUM SCORE OF 113 IN APTITUDE AREA SKILL TECHNICAL (ST) ON ASVAB
TESTS ADMINISTERED ON AND AFTER 2 JAN 02, BUT PRIOR TO 1 APR 14.

(5) A MINIMUM SCORE OF 110 IN APTITUDE AREA FOR GT AND A MINIMUM SCORE
OF 112 IN APTITUDE AREA ST ON ARMED SERVICES VOCATIONAL APTITUDE
BATTERY (ASVAB) TESTS ADMINISTERED ON AND AFTER 1 APR 14.

(6) AT A MINIMUM, SOLDIERS MUST POSSESS A SECRET CLEARANCE AT TIME OF
APPLICATION AND AFTER RECLASSIFICATION APPROVAL SOLDIERS WILL BEGIN
APPLICATION PROCESS TO RECEIVE INTERIM TOP SECRET CLEARANCE PRIOR
TO ATTENDING TRAINING. SOLDIERS WILL REQUIRE A SECURITY CLEARANCE OF
TOP SECRET WITH SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (SCI) ACCESS
PRIOR TO BEING AWARDED THE MOS.

(7) SOLDIERS MUST HAVE NO ADVERSE INFORMATION IN THEIR OFFICIAL
MILITARY PERSONNEL FILE, PROVOST MARSHALL RECORDS, OR LOCAL
SECURITY OFFICE, AS WELL AS NO DISQUALIFYING INFORMATION IN THEIR
MEDICAL RECORDS THAT WOULD PREVENT THE GRANTING OF A SECURITY
CLEARANCE OR MEETING PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO BE AWARDED MOS 17C.

SPECIALTY (MOS) 17C (CYBER OPERATIONS SPECIALIST)

1. THIS MESSAGE IS EFFECTIVE 2 DEC 15, AND WILL EXPIRE NLT 1 DEC 16.

2. THIS MESSAGE PROVIDES GUIDANCE FOR THE RECLASSIFICATION
PROCEDURES FOR MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (MOS) 17C IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE ABOVE REFERENCES.

3. THE ARMY IS SEEKING A LIMITED NUMBER OF QUALIFIED SOLDIERS IN
GRADES E1 THRU E5 TO BECOME CYBER OPERATIONS SPECIALISTS
(MOS 17C). CYBER OPERATIONS SPECIALISTS EXECUTE OFFENSIVE AND
DEFENSIVE CYBERSPACE OPERATIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE FULL RANGE
OF MILITARY OPERATIONS BY ENABLING ACTIONS AND GENERATING
EFFECTS ACROSS ALL DOMAINS. THE CYBER OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
ENSURES THE FREEDOM OF MANEUVER WITHIN THE CYBERSPACE
DOMAIN AND DENIES THE SAME TO ADVERSARIES. CYBER OPERATIONS
SPECIALISTS WILL ENABLE OFFENSIVE CYBERSPACE OPERATIONS (OCO)
INTENDED TO PROJECT POWER BY THE APPLICATION OF FORCE IN AND
THROUGH CYBERSPACE BY TARGETING ENEMY AND HOSTILE
ADVERSARY ACTIVITIES AND CAPABILITIES.

CYBER OPERATIONS SPECIALISTS ALSO ENABLE DEFENSIVE
CYBERSPACE OPERATIONS (DCO) IN ORDER TO PROTECT DATA,
NETWORKS, NET-CENTRIC CAPABILITIES, AND OTHER DESIGNATED
SYSTEMS BY DETECTING, IDENTIFYING, AND RESPONDING TO ATTACKS
AGAINST FRIENDLY NETWORKS.


4. HUMAN RESOURCES COMMAND (HRC) IS ACCEPTING VOLUNTARY
RECLASSIFICATION REQUESTS INTO MOS 17C FROM SOLDIERS MEETING
THE FOLLOWING PREREQUISITES FOR RECLASSIFICATION:

A. MUST BE SERGEANT NON-PROMOTABLE OR BELOW.

B. MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR RETENTION AND RECLASSIFICATION IAW
REFERENCES A AND B ABOVE. SUBMIT AN APPLICATION PACKET FOR
APPROVAL TO THE DIRECTOR, OFFICE CHIEF OF CYBER, U.S. ARMY
CYBER SCHOOL, FORT GORDON, GA 30905-5300.
